My career pathway in Nurse Education started in 1990. It has taken me from the role of Clinical Supervisor to Clinical Lecturer and on to my current post as Lecturer in Nursing.听听听 My clinical听 experience includes General, Neurological听 and Cardiothoracic surgical nursing and latterly adult Critical Care. 听I teach predominantly on the pre-registration BSc(Hons) Nursing but am also the Academic Link Person (ALP) for an听 international collaboration with the British University in Egypt (BUE), Cairo.听听 As part of the School of Health Sciences Manual Handling team, my clinical skills teaching extends across Nursing and the Allied Health Professions. Teaching, curriculum 性用社ment and research in the area of Clinical Skills Learning has been a major focus of my work over the years, enabling me to maintain close links with nurses in practice. 听The introduction and implementation of听 Problem Based Learning into the curriculum has been another significant area of involvement, which fits very well with our听 nursing division鈥檚 philosophy of person centredness.听 More recently I have 性用社ed an interest and am leading in the promotion of Contemplative approaches to student education and staff working practices within the nursing division.听 Contemplative practices such as Mindfulness also link closely to my long standing interest in the clinical management of pain.听听听听
